Rihanna, who was born in Saint Michael and grew up in Bridgetown, Barbados became an audition for Evan Rogers, an American record producer. He invited her to the United States to record demo tapes. After signing with Def Jam, in 2005, Rihanna quickly gained fame when she released her two first studio albums: Music of the Sun (2005) & A Girl Like Me (2006). The albums strongly influenced by Caribbean music and made it into the top ten positions on the US Billboard 200 Chart. Good Girl Gone Bad, the third album by Rihanna, was influenced by dance music. It made her a sex icon in the music industry. Rihanna's first Grammy Award was won for her hit song "Umbrella" which launched Rihanna into the spotlight of the world. In her subsequent studio albums Rated R (2009) and Loud (2010) and Talk That Talk (2011) and Unapologetic (2012) she continued to mix R&B with pop and dance genres. The album that came out was her first Billboard 200 number 1. These albums produced a number of chart-topping hits, including "Rude Boy", “Only Girl (In the World)," and "What's My Name?" ", "S&M","We Found Love, "Where Have You Been” and "Diamonds". Anti (2016), her eighth album was her first album since her departure from Def Jam. The album ranked second in the US and featured "Work" which is her chart-topping single. In her music career, Rihanna has collaborated with several artists, including Drake, Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Ne-Yo and Shakira. Rihanna is the second-most-sold female artist in music and has more than 250 million records sold worldwide. She has scored a number-one and has had 31 top ten singles in the US and also a top ten single in the UK with 30 entries. Nine Grammy Awards, 13 American Music Awards including the Icon Award, 12 Billboard Music Awards along with six Guinness World Records and the NAACP's President's Award are just a few of her accolades. Time named her one the 100 most influential people worldwide in the years 2012 and 2018. Forbes placed her among the top ten most-paid celebrities in 2012 and 2014. Forbes ranked her among the top 10 highest-paid stars in 2012 and 2014. She is now the highest-paid female musician, with an estimated net worth $1.4 billion.
